John Carrington

Chief Executive Officer

As CEO and Director, John Carrington leads the energy storage and analytics movement at Stem. With more than 25 years of leadership experience at technology, energy, and industrial companies, John comes to Stem from MiaSole, the world’s largest CIGS-based thin film solar company, where he was CEO and Director. Prior to MiaSole, John was Executive Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at First Solar, where he grew the company revenue from $250 million to more than $2 billion, and opened markets in the U.S., Asia and Europe. John spent over 16 years at General Electric, most recently as General Manager and Chief Marketing officer of the $7 billion GE Plastics, where he led global innovation, new technology efforts and product strategy. John was part of a small executive team that executed on the $12 billion sale of GE Plastics to SABIC in 2007. He is an alumnus of the University of Colorado, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing and economics.

Robert Schaefer

President

Robert is the President and co-founder of AlsoEnergy where he has led the company to become the leading independent provider of monitoring systems for the global renewable energy industry. Prior to AlsoEnergy, Robert held various positions in of Breese Hill LLC including C.O.O., V.P. Engineering, President and Chief Executive Officer. Prior to Breese Hill, Robert developed leading products for Hertrich Development, MaxOptix and Digital Equipment Corporation.

Robert’s education includes a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from M.I.T and a Master of Science in Control Systems from the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Holden Caine

Co-Founder

Holden is a co-founder of AlsoEnergy where he has led the company’s product and technology organizations and developed the renewable energy industry’s most innovative and advanced solutions portfolio. With a career focused on developing high-performance, low-cost web-based software solutions for the digital imaging market, Holden was most recently Vice-President of software development for FujiFilm, USA. He served in similar capacities with Applied Graphics Technologies and the Eastman Kodak research lab.

Holden holds a Computer Engineering degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Brian Musfeldt

Chief Financial Officer

Brian is the Chief Financial Officer of AlsoEnergy and brings over 20 years of experience in various financial and accounting oversight roles, primarily with telecom and SaaS software companies. Prior to joining AlsoEnergy, Brian was the CFO for both public and private companies including ConnectFirst, Zayo Bandwidth, and Intermap Technologies. Brian started his career in public accounting with a focus on high-tech and emerging markets, working with KPMG and Arthur Andersen.

Brian is a CPA and holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accounting degree from the University of Colorado and a Masters in Business Administration degree from Colorado State University.

Dan Sweeney

Chief Operations Officer

Dan brings almost 10 years of experience in the renewable energy industry, including 2 years with Enel X as Director of Project Engineering and 4 years at Advanced Energy as Director of Service and VP of Engineering. Prior to entering the renewable industry, Dan had a 26-year career in high technology including 22 years at Intel Corporation.

Dan holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Nebraska and a Renewable Energy Engineering degree from the Oregon Institute of Technology.

Matthew Brocklehurst

Chief Product Officer

Matthew is the Chief Product Officer at AlsoEnergy and leads global Product Strategy, Product Marketing, and Design. He brings over 10 years of experience in clean energy technology. Most recently, Matthew worked in senior leadership roles at clean energy SaaS companies as VP, Product at Envision Digital and as CTO at Power Factors. Prior to his SaaS experience, Matthew led internal technology teams at First Wind and SunEdison.

Matthew started his career managing ERP, financial systems, and business intelligence platforms before focusing on more operations-centric digital technologies that leverage data, analytics, and automation to drive results. His global experience has included startup success, rapid corporate expansion, and significant M&A. Outside of his industry and technical expertise, Matthew brings human capital development skills with a history of producing high performing teams, agile processes, and inclusive work cultures.

Matthew holds bachelors’ degrees in Finance and Economics from Rhode Island College and an MBA from Johnson & Wales University.

Kevin Smart

Vice President of Global Sales & Marketing

Kevin coordinates sales and marketing efforts across all markets served by AlsoEnergy. Prior to joining AlsoEnergy, Kevin served as the Vice President of North America Sales for CEC Great Wall. Kevin started his career in the solar industry in 2009 with Satcon and served in multiple roles managing the business development, international sales, and service teams. Prior to Satcon, Kevin worked in sales and business development at HP, Sybase, and Arthur Andersen.

Kevin is a graduate of Alma College and received his MBA and Law Degree from Willamette University.

Mesa Scharf

Vice President of Product Management

Mesa brings nearly 20 years of experience in the alternative energy industry, including 9 years with Advanced Energy, where he helped design control and monitoring solutions for some of the largest solar plants in North America. Mesa was responsible for definition of monitoring and control solutions for solar inverters as well as providing directional guidance on forward looking R&D programs. Mesa’s past experience includes Serveron where he developed utility scale transformer monitoring products, and IdaTech, where he contributed as a systems integration expert for fuel cell systems.

Mesa holds a BSEE from Oregon State University, is a member of the IEEE, and has five granted patents.

Patrick King

Vice President of Sales

Pat King is Vice President of Sales for AlsoEnergy and brings his passion for developing effective sales and operation teams to execute winning revenue strategies.

Pat has worked in the renewable energy industry for the last decade starting at Suniva, a solar cell and module manufacturer as Vice President of Sales and then transitioning to utility scale development as aVice President at Innovative Solar Systems. Previously, Pat worked in high-tech working for Apple and Earthlink in various sales management roles.

Pat is an alumnus from Indiana University Bloomington with a Bachelors of Arts, Economics and Computer Science.

Alen Chang

APAC Regional Manager, APAC

As a qualified Application Engineer, Alen oversees the business development and technical support of AlsoEnergy in the Asia Pacific region. Alen assists clients on all hardware and software installation. Alen has enormous practical experiences on zero export control (anti-reverse) on grid-connected solar systems. Alen has over 20 years of solar system engineering experience, developing products and software at companies including Satcon, Constellation Energy, and United Solar Ovonic Inc. Prior to joining AlsoEnergy, Alen was EVP at SIC (USA).

Alen received a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering at Texas Southern University.

Sushain Sharma

Business Development Manager, India

Sushain heads the India office at AlsoEnergy, which manages projects and operations in India and the Asia Pacific region. He has led strategy and execution, and built an agile organization of solar energy professionals who have delivered critical projects in record time. In the past, Sushain had led strategy and sales, and built high performing teams as regional head at Snapdeal and Godrej. His last entrepreneurial foray saw him build a technology product in the logistics space.

Sushain holds a Masters in Business Administration from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and a Bachelors in Technology from G.B.Pant University, Pantnagar in India.

Gorka Parada

Head of Sales and Marketing, EMEA

Gorka leads the AlsoEnergy sales & marketing teams for Europe, Middle East & Africa, focusing on value generation and business development in the utility and C&I markets. In 2010 Gorka entered the renewable energy space when he joined NEM Solutions as a Chief Revenue Officer, focusing on predictive analytics for wind turbines. Gorka focused on global business development before moving to Philadelphia in 2017 as the CEO of the US branch.

Prior to entering the renewable energy space Gorka led business development efforts in Europe, Middle East, South East Asia, South Pacific, and the Americas while working in different industries such as access control, chemicals and steel foundries. Because of his work Gorka is fluent in English, Spanish, French, Italian, and Basque.

Gorka obtained his MBA and Business Degree from the University of Deusto in Spain.
